PORT DENISON FORESHORE
The Port Denison Foreshore is a popular backdrop for wedding ceremonies and private functions. Please notify the Shire of your intent to hold a function on the foreshore and allow us to work with you to make your day a success.
IRWIN REC CENTRE
The Irwin Rec is the perfect venue for a range of events, visit the Irwin Rec’s Venue Hire page for further detail.
TOWN PARK
Town Park is located on the corner of Hosken and Smith Streets and is a fantastic place for a picnic with a great playground for the kids, plenty of lush green grass, a gazebo and shaded areas to sit.
The Monthly Markets are held at Town Park on the first Saturday of every month. Enjoy the entertainment, grab a coffee or treat to eat, all while browsing the stalls full of local produce.
CRICKET OVAL & PAVILION
The Town Cricket Oval & Pavilion is situated on Waldeck Street, Dongara. This is home to both the Dongara Cricket Club and the Dongara VETS Football Club.
For social sporting events, the Cricket Pavilion and its amenities offer spectators and participants a place to relax and enjoy the games under the Moreton Bay Fig trees that adorn one side of the ground. Finish off the day with a BBQ and refreshments.
COMMUNITY BUS
The Community Bus is available for Shire of Irwin residents to hire. Non-residents are also able to make bookings, however, it should be noted that if a resident requires use of the bus that they will be given preference over non-residents regardless as to who booked first.
The cost of the community bus is dependent on the kilometres travelled, but is charged at various rates for the following groups:

Provides financial assistance to Shire of Irwin residents who have been selected to participate in a national sporting event, or who receive a scholarship to the Mid-West Academy of Sports.
Those receiving a scholarship to the Mid-West Academy of Sports are eligible for membership and services worth up to $400 at the Irwin Recreation Centre. Council support to elite athletes through cash, memberships or services is limited to the value of $400 per athlete per year.
