Restricted Burning Period is now underway

Permits to burn are required during the restricted period and they can be requested through a Fire Control Officer listed on the Firebreak Notice or at https://irwin.wa.gov.au/firebreaks/                  

Landowners are reminded that all burns must be registered on (08) 9395 9209 and any escaped burns MUST be reported to 000.

Burning Periods are as follows:

RESTRICTED – 1 October to 31 October

PROHIBITED – 1 November to 28 February

RESTRICTED – 1 March to 15 May

UNRESTRICTED – 16 May to September 30

Permits are required for burning of windrows, stubble, grass or bush at any time during the RESTRICTED burning periods.  Permits are required for all areas. No burning is permitted on High, Extreme and Catastrophic Fire Danger, or when a Total Fire Ban or Harvest and Vehicle Movement Ban has been declared during the Restricted Burning Period.

Campfires are prohibited – 1 October to 16 May

Firebreaks must be installed and maintained clear of flammable materials from 15 October 2026 and 15 May 2027 inclusive.
