The Shire of Irwin Activities on Thoroughfares and Trading Local Law regulates activities in public places such as operating a fixed stall or mobile street trading (e.g. a coffee van).
A public place includes any thoroughfare or place which the public are allowed to use, whether or not the thoroughfare or place is on private property. This includes car parks or other outdoor areas which the general public has access to (not within a building).
For individual stalls or traders, you must apply for a permit from the Shire of Irwin. You can apply either for periodical times or a yearly permit which allows you to trade for 12 consecutive months.
Trading at an event
If an event has approval from the Shire of Irwin, then a permit is not required for each individual to trade for the duration of the event. However, if you are selling food then your business must be registered under the Food Act 2008. You will also need to seek permission from the event organiser who is responsible for notifying the Shire of Irwin of your attendance at their event.
