While the Kailis Drive entrance is familiar to locals, its limited signage falls short of creating an appealing town entry.
Transforming this entry point into a beautified gateway is crucial for establishing a strong sense of arrival and shaping travellers’ initial impressions of Dongara Denison.
Thanks to Beach Energy’s initial funding in 2021, we initiated the design phase, and a subsequent contribution in 2022 enabled the Shire to advance to the construction stage. The construction phase commenced with the creation of a limestone entry wall, artistic signage, and a 5-meter-high designed monument. These elements ensure that this alternative route is not only clearly identifiable but also aesthetically pleasing, beckoning travelers to explore Dongara Denison via Point Leander Drive and its surrounding businesses, showcasing our hidden gem.
The ongoing efforts will bring this project to completion next year, incorporating additional landscaping, design plantings, and the installation of solar lighting, weather permitting.
This transformative project owes its realisation to the generous support of Beach Energy and the Federal Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LRCI) Program.
